The Lord’s Prayer is a powerful and effective prayer that is frequently overlooked. Jesus taught his disciples to pray this prayer. It has elements of praise, worship, invocation of God’s will, forgiveness, avoidance of temptation and protection from evil:

This, then, is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.  Matthew 6:9-14 NIV

Jesus notes a very important action that should accompany prayer just after he tells his disciples this prayer:

But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matthew 6:15 NIV

Unforgiveness is a common obstacle for healing and deliverance from all types of sin bondage. Do you have any unforgiveness in your heart?  If so I encourage you to deal with it now – see our page on unforgiveness.
